Jerred LaRue, 27, is a native Blount County resident. At age 11, Jerred
began attending auctions in Blount County and found an interest in a
variety of antiques. He first began collecting pottery purchasing box
lots at auctions. He quickly gained a reputation as “The McCoy Boy”
since he primarily focused on McCoy pottery which has maintained a
steady collectible market over the years. At 14, Jerred accepted his
first job working at Hall’s Auction where he assisted the auctioneers in
identification and appraisals of antiques. His collections rapidly grew
and at age 15, Jerred began renting and maintaining his own booth in an
antique mall here in Blount County. His knowledge of antiques naturally
attracted local antique dealers for appraisals and information on their
items.
At age 19, Jerred accepted a job at Blair House which
is a store for fine antiques in Knoxville. This job gave him great
knowledge of jewelry and fine European antiques. By the time he was 21,
he was ready to open his own store and started in the front of his
father’s sign shop, Accurate Image Decals. In December of 2009, Jerred
finally had the assets and knowledge to become an antique store owner.
Today, LaRue’s on Broadway is run by his knowledge of antiques and he
continues to share this knowledge with each customer that visits the
store.
Anthony White, 22, is a native East Tennessee resident
born and raised in Powell, TN. He began his first job at Wendy's and
quickly earned a promotion to management. After working in management
for a year and a half, he decided to move to a different career field.
Starting at a marketing firm in Nashville, he finally understood his
true career dreams. Through his marketing job, Anthony learned many of
the necessary skills to run and maintain a business. After leaving his
job in February of 2009, he began searching for a permanent career. With
a strong love for antiques and a relentless desire to be successful in
addition to his management and business skills developed early in life,
he had finally decided to open his own business. Today, LaRue's on
Broadway is run by his knowledge of business and marketing. He also
helps maintain the LaRue's on Broadway Facebook page and eagerly strives
to learn more about business, marketing and antiques.
