Mr. McCormick led an amazing life. Here is more info about him:
Scott was born January 14, 1956 in Live Oak, Florida, to parents Wallace W. and Ethel G. McCormick. He was a fifth generation Floridian and a documented Florida Pioneer Family descendant. After high school Scott completed his BS degree in Animal Science at the University of Florida. Like his father before him, Scott was a member of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.
Scotts working career began and ended with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). He was an administrator with the Rural Rehabilitation Program (formerly Farmers Home Administration). In the middle of his career he also worked for the Farm Credit Administration as a senior bank examiner. During this time he advanced his education by completing the Graduate School of Banking program at Louisiana State University. After retirement from USDA, Scott returned to his roots to manage the family pine tree operations at McCormick Tree Farms, LLC.
Scott was an experienced outdoorsman who enjoyed and excelled at many forms of hunting and fishing. He was a skilled marksman who competed at the Master Class level in sporting clay competitions throughout the country and also served as an instructor and referee. He was a long term member of the National Rifle Association, the National Sporting Clays Association, the National Wild Turkey Federation and Ducks Unlimited. Scott was a skilled angler as well and enjoyed fishing both fresh and salt waters with conventional rods, fly fishing and net casting. He had a number of good friends in the hunting and sporting community in Alabama and in the Calhoun, Jackson, and Bay County areas of Florida.
As a lifelong Gator fan he loved Saturdays in The Swamp during football season. He was also a big fan of UF baseball, softball and basketball and would routinely attend and support Gator sports whenever possible. Scott was a talented woodworker who crafted fine furniture pieces to hand carved duck decoys. He loved a glass of fine scotch, boiled peanuts, fried mullet, grits and greens, a porch rail to prop his boots on, a good book to read, and a well told fish tale among friends and family.
