Listing Information

Big Easy Estate Sales in partnership with Della Graham of Rain or Shine Estate Sales
are thrilled to offer the contents of this special Garden District property.

The house, designed by celebrated architect Henry Howard, was his first serious commission in the 1850's. Jane Schlesinger Cross and her husband bought it 45 years ago as their family home and began to fill it with their memories and lots of art and decorative objects.

Jane decorated the manse with the help of Jule Lang.  They used rich colors and tobacco leaf fabrics to enhance the blend of Italianate and Greek Revival styles of the home.  In 2013 the house and gardens were featured in the PRC Holiday Home Tour and Stephanie Bruno wrote a charming article entitled "Putting the GRAND in Grandma's House” for the New Orleans Advocate.  After years of enjoying her lovely home on Second Street, Jane Cross recently decided it was time for the next chapter.  She sold the home and now we are helping her sell some of her beautiful possessions.

We hope you can join us for this wonderful sale.  From the Corinthian columns through the center hall and into the lush garden, this grand house is a treasure filled with more of the same.
