Listing Information

We are honored to present the Estate of Clyde H. Wells.  A true Texan in every sense of the word, Mr. Wells was a great supporter of Texas A & M University, chairing the Board of Regents from 1961 until 1981.  He was also a great supporter of Tarleton State University.  There are true treasures in this estate; well love and cared for, they are something to behold.  Photographing this estate was like trying to capture the beauty of a rainbow in a photo.  These treasures need to be seen in person.   PLEASE take your time in each area of this home.  Even the garage holds great finds.

Having an open floor plan, entering this home almost takes your breath away.  Once past the foyer, the Great Room is filled with so many beautiful things your eyes don’t know where to look first.  Is it the white silk Empire revival sofas or the many Persian area rugs? Or how about the antique rocker with the needlepoint inlay?  Take your time as you certainly do not want to miss the Native American arts and crafts or the Pueblo pottery that’s seeking a new home.  There are chairs of every shape and size with end tables and side tables like none you have seen before.  The same can be said of the lamps in this home, which are brass, stone inlay with brass or even champleve.  Floor to desk, you can find them all.

Throughout the house, you will find beautiful pottery, pitchers and Persian rugs.  The rugs come in many sizes and colors. There are so many rugs that not all could be displayed.  Many are rolled up with the design facing out. These can be displayed for inspection for anyone wanting to purchase one.  Several are original handmade Native American offerings. And they are all desirable.  There are decorative hobnail pieces, more than a few copper pieces to include large tubs, a 4-pot chaffing dish and, of course, a spittoon.

Stepping out onto the deck, you will find a vast assortment of flower pots, planters, bird feeders and a great assortment of other outdoor items.  But the one piece that stands out is the wrought iron table with San Jose pottery tile top.  Circa 1930, these tables are very hard to find.  “Love bumps” and all, this table is an exceptional buy and will be a beautiful addition to your collection.

There is a wide variety of cookware.  Not only is it in the kitchen, you can also find shelves of cookware in the garage.  Large stew pots with lids, a cast iron square pan and a cast iron skillet that almost takes two people to pick it up!  There is also a great selection of small kitchen appliances.  Sandwich makers, crock pots, food processors, juicers and electric skillets are just a sampling of what is available.

More and more of our regular shoppers have been asking for turntables, you know, record players.  We have a Vintage Sony Stereo Music System.  It’s in great shape and comes with 2 speakers.  Grab you a few albums from the assortment in the garage and you will be in business!  You can also find, more than a few, cameras.  From a Brownie Hawkeye to a Polaroid Swinger to a Canon Sure Shot, if you are a collector these are some great finds.  Speaking of photos, there is a wonderful assortment of old black and white photos.  Great additions for the collector.

For the sports enthusiast, there is a miniature bat signed by Texas A & M great C.E. “Pat” Olsen, a “working” saddle and fishing equipment.

We have apparel for both men and women.  You can outfit yourself from head to toe in a variety of styles for any occasion and any season.  We even have the “bling” with our great assortment of costume jewelry.  For the ladies, we often have a mink stole or jacket available.  This estate offers 10+ coats of various types of fur.  Something for everyone!

There is a nice assortment of bed linens, especially covers such as blankets, chenille bedspreads and handmade quilts.  Look closely and you will find cups, mugs and assorted items boasting the Pendleton label.

We always have wicker baskets available and this home is no exception. There are baskets with handles; there are baskets shaped like animals; there are even baskets that don’t look like baskets!  Since they were well taken care of, the condition is like new on many.

Contents in this home are not found very often.  This estate is filled with unusual and hard to find items.  Each item was loved and very well cared for. Which brings me to the photos.  Please review all photos as you may miss something you just can’t live without!
