Listing Information
Update:  As we all know, Jack Eaton wrote and quoted many of his poems on the air for several decades.  We have several hundred of his poems that will be for sale this weekend. To protect the integrity of his poem collection, we will be taking bids to purchase the whole lot. It simply did not make sense to have several hundred loose papers for individuals to purchase and handle, plus it would have ruined the integrity of the collection. My hope is that the high bidder will do something creative so that they can be shared with the public in the near future; however, that will be up to the winning bidder. We will shut down the bids when we close this Saturday at the estate sale. Bid sheets will need to be either filled out during the estate sale or if folks would like to text me his or her name along with your cell. We will stop taking bids at 4:00 PM sharp on Saturday, and I will know shortly afterwards.  I am still trying to figure out how to allow customers and bidders to look at what we have without handling all his personally typed poems from his typewriter.  I will try to have a count total before we open on Thursday at noon. "Great Caesar's Ghost!"

Jack Eaton was born and raised in Warren, Pennsylvania.  He moved to Memphis in 1956 serving as sports director and anchor for WMC, and began calling Memphis State Tigers basketball games in 1959-1987 and also called football games from 1964-1986. He also called local area high school football games as well as Memphis Chicks baseball games in the late 50's. In 1959, he MC'd the first Memphis broadcast of professional wrestling. In 2011, he was also inducted into the Tennessee Hall of Fame. Wow! An old neighbor of Jack remembers when he used to maneuver that 6'5" frame into a volkswagon beetle. I remember Jack reading his poems on the air often.  He wrote 100's of them.

This is a really nice estate in East Memphis near Quince and Estate Rd.  The home is packed full of nice furnishings and his memorabilia.

Note: There is a large b/w early photo of Mr. Eaton that the family is keeping as well as 2 art drawings. These pics show up in my photos below, but are not for sale. Everything else is!
