Listing Information

Judge Austin Miller, the manor's original owner, was a prominent lawyer and banker.  He came to be largely responsible for the decision to make Memphis part of Tennessee instead of Mississippi.  Hardeman County ws only 21 years old when he purchased the land for the house in 1844.  Miller not only drew the plans himself, but also supervised the construction of his "English country home".

Magnolia Manor brings back to life fascinating moments in the history of the State of Tennessee and the Civil War years of the nation.  Decisions were made in this house that directed the course of the Civil War.  Union generals Grant, Sherman, Logan, and McPherson chose this house to serve as their headquarters.

The estate and the contents of the home are for sale.
