CLOCK: Eli Bentley Tall Case Clock (1752-1822). Eli Bentley, born in Concord PA, began making clocks near West Chester PA 1778-1787. In 1790 settled in Taney Town, MD, where he made and repaired clocks  until his death in 1822 at age 70. He is considered to be Carroll County’s best known craftsman.  Carroll County Historical Society has (5) examples in their collection.
