OLE SUSANNAH'S ESTATE SALE THIS WEEKEND! LOCATION: 2905 CUBA BOULEVARD, MONROE (River Oaks Subdivision) DATES: Friday, March 28 9:00 a.m.-11:00 a.m. (Preview Sale) 11:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. Saturday, March 29 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 30 1:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m. (Half-Price) Happy Spring Everyone! According to the Farmer's Almanac (which my daddy religiously referred to), this past Monday & Tuesday were the best days to plant New Potatoes and I was all ready--bought seed potatoes at a Hardware store in W. Monroe--cut them so they would "heal" about two weeks ago--just like my daddy showed me. But along came the dreaded, hateful Weatherman and said we would have frost last night-- so potato planting is going to have to wait. I know warm weather is coming soon! We are having a wonderful sale this weekend at the Breard home in River Oaks Subdivision. Massachusetts has the Kennedy's as their Camelot family and Monroe has the Breard family. They left a family history book in their home and Filhiol Breard (remember Don Juan Filhiol established Fort Miro which later became Monroe) graciously agreed to let us keep this treasure long enough for you to see the amazing history of the Breard family. (You won't believe some of the beautiful old homes that used to grace Riverside Drive!). Miss Pat will be missed by her knitting and Mah-Jong friends but she's moved to Nebraska to live with her son, Filhiol. This sweet lady is so interesting and has led such an intriguing life--she once worked in the Administration Office at the White House during the presidency of John Kennedy. Bet she could tell us some stories! Ya'll know how Kim fusses about my bantering "on and on", but I am so excited for us to bring you the treasures of this world-traveled family. They lived abroad for over seventeen years. Some of their children were born in other countries. You'll find all kinds of books and artifacts at this sale! CHINA & GLASSWARE: Occupied Japan, Johnson Bros, vintage porcelain, Haviland-Gotham, Noritake, Arabia Glassware, Cut Glass, Crystal, milk glass, serving pieces, demitasse cups and saucers, etc. FURNITURE: Sofa & love seat, Weiman foyer table, Weiman bedside table, Thomasville game table with 4 chairs, four French chairs with basket weave backs, beautifully carved wood parlor chair, pair of Eastlake chairs, 4 poster Queen size bed, chest of drawers, very old Cedar hope chest, twin bed box springs & mattresses, full box springs & mattress, wicker baby bassinet , etc. KITCHEN: (Ainta gonna be cookin' no more!)
