The 3rd Avenue exit ramp at the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, currently the last exit in Queens before the Bronx toll plaza, will be closed beginning Jan. 7, 2013 while work is done nearby for the Queens approach roadway Capital construction project.
Here are the roadway detours that will be in place:
Passenger vehicles driving north on the Cross Island Parkway: To exit before the toll plaza, cars must take Utopia Parkway (exit 34), turn left on Totten Street, turn right onto the Cross Island Parkway service road, and proceed along the service road to 3rd Avenue.
Passenger vehicles driving north on the Whitestone Expressway: To exit before the toll plaza drive past the 20th Avenue exit and merge left onto the Cross Island Parkway. Take Francis Lewis Boulevard (exit 35), turn left at 14th Avenue, and then take the first left onto the Cross Island Parkway service road. Proceed along the service road to 3rd Avenue.
