Jacqueline (Davidson) Flitcraft was born in East Springfield, Ohio, on April 19, 1917. She moved to Southern California in 1953, then into the San Jose, CA area in 1963, where she settled into her serious, yet joyful, career of painting. She moved to the San Diego, CA area in 1975 where she continued her career in painting and teaching. She studied art at San Bernardino Valley College, Laguna School of Art & Design, San Jose City College, University of Berkeley, M.P.M.A. Santa Cruz Art League, and under seascape teachers: Bennett Bradbury, Marshall Merritt, Don Foster, Ray Radliff, E. John Robinson, Dale Gehrman, Thomas Kinkade and many other well known teachers. Her college major was "Liberal Arts" within the fields of Fashion Design and Drafting. She is a member of the Society of Western Artist, Monterey Peninsula Museum of Art, The East County Art Association and Balboa Art Association. She served 2 years on the executive board of the Los Gatos Art Association and 8 years on the board of Campbell Artists Guild, and was awarded a life membership for her excellent service as president. Jac has served as judge in various shows, resided as president and vice president of various art guilds and won outstanding awards for her exhibits in many shows through out the Western United States. She loved to be the featured artist for demonstrations at various art organizations. She was awarded "Artist of the Year" in the Campbell Art Guild, several awards from the Society of Western Artists, and was a member of the Monterey Peninsula Museum of Art. Her paintings are in Private collections throughout the USA, Great Britain, Europe, Africa, Mexico & Hawaii. Her most thrilling experience was when the Nixon family accepted one of her marine paintings and it was taken to the Washington White House. Also one of her large marine painting is in the private collection of Mr. & Mrs. Harrison, president of the Pittsburgh Steel. Very few artists capture the sea in all its moods, from the fury of a full blown gale to the gentle surf on the beach, with shimmering moonlight to golden sunsets, as does JAC. She says, “A painting is like a light burning to warm the dark corners of the heart”, and she strives to communicate love happiness into her paintings which she shares with others. Her love of the sea has taken her the length of the Pacific coastline from Mexico to Alaska, where she captured many paintings of the ever exciting sea and the ever changing scenic Wonderland of nature. Her love of the sea and its many moods and the beauty found in her florals, are reflected in her paintings. They are strong and dynamic. She works in oils with palette knife and brush, and has been commissioned to do paintings for many homes.
