Below is a bit of information about our lady of the house provided by her family:

Dorothy Alice (Crofoot) Pierson
Born in 1919 in Ellsworth County, Kansas, she moved to Oakland, California, with her mother and eight siblings in 1921. After working for the war effort in Washington DC during World War II, she moved to Sacramento and began working work at the State Department of Natural Resources, where she met William Edward Pierson, whom she married in 1944. Dorothy Pierson was the owner of the Liz Lanz shop in the Lanai shopping center during the 1960’s. During that time she joined the Soroptimists of South Sacramento, served as their President, and was an active member for many years.

After Bill’s retirement in the early 1970’s, she enjoyed traveling with Bill; cruises with her niece Peggy, visits to children and grandchildren; dinners and parties with family and friends; gardening and knitting; and Soroptimist luncheons and activities. Dorothy celebrated her 95th birthday in July.

Dorothy had two children; Robert W. Pierson of Nashville and Elizabeth (Pierson) Fenton of Davis; three grandchildren: Laura and Anne Fenton and Alan Pierson of Brooklyn; her sister, Mary Harris of Pacifica, nieces Katherine (Livermore) Stevens of Davis and Peggy (Stevens) DeForest of Ripon. She was predeceased by her husband, William Edward Pierson.

Come celebrate her life on Thursday at her home in South Land Park
