(Rainbow Dr.) House is 2nd house on the right. Can also come from Cypress St. When we do an estate sale, I always ask people for "their" information. Bobby, (the wife) wrote very neatly-"Upon Billy's retirement from the U.S. Army, he and his wife, Bobbye, returned to Louisiana." After I read her two page synopsis, I told her that what she had written was very informational about their lives for thirty years in the military-"But"-I said, "I want to know about you and Billy-where you met-where you both grew up-how long you were married-tell me about you. The sweetest smile crossed her face and her eyes were so warm as she explained how they both grew up in Tallulah, La. - just one block from each other. He was a little older (can't you just know she had the biggest crush on him!) He graduated from NLU, and she graduated from high school and they married. Their first stop as a young couple was to El Paso, Texas. Their service took them all over the world: Germany and Okinawa, where he served the last three years as the Commander United States Army Garrison Okinawa (USAGO). They returned to Louisiana after retirement. As I was looking through her rooms for the sale, I noticed all kinds of "frilly" dance dresses in her closet. Guess what Bobbye and Billy did after retirement? They became Cajun Dancing Instructors and taught dance lessons in Louisiana and several other states!!! She thumbed through the beautiful outfits and said, "It was so much fun, while it lasted! I've only seen Colonels in the movies and those little, young soldiers always act scared of them. Who knew that a rough, tough acting Colonel could become a dance instructor? I'm sorry he's not here to share "stories" with us. They were married for 52 years. She's been a real trooper to let us invade her home. Her beautiful home has been sold and she's so excited to be moving close to her daughter in Texas. There are some people that you meet in your life and you regret not having met them sooner. Bobbye is one of those people!!! As a treat, she's going to try to stay for the sale. Don't look, for a cute little old lady. She will be the tall, erect elegant one. You should have seen her moving furniture and getting on a ladder. It kind of makes me wish I'd spent more time "dancing." As you have probably guessed, there will be lots of military memorabilia and collectibles from different countries. Some of these collectibles I've only seen in books. FYI: Lamar is having a sale this weekend too. (305 Donaldson Road. Exit 103) Estate Sale of James A. Hobbs Don't miss this one-it's special. Because of the weather, the sale will be on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. See you there! Check out our website TONIGHT which will include all of the merchandise.
