Dollie has moved from her beautiful home on the Bayou to Shreveport to be with family. She and Mr. Charles were married over 60 years and traveled extensively to every continent. They loved Alaska so much that they decided to live there for a while! Lots of lovely goodies are waiting for you. We all know and LOVE Tyner Petrus (don't you just love their tent sales with all the good bargains?) Tyner Petrus was started in 1928 by August Petrus and Mr. Tyner. At Mr. August Petrus' death, the company was passed to his sons--Charles and his two brothers, David and Richard. I remember Mr. Petrus when I was a little girl and my Daddy would buy all of his seeds for peas, beans, okra, etc. for his 3 acre garden on Camp Road. He planted such a large garden so his friends could come & visit and leave with a car full of fresh veggies--they would all sit and shell peas and tell stories (some of them Tall Tales)! Such good memories. A little tidbit of nostalgia-- August Petrus and John Birdsong (who comes to all of our sales) originally brought the first FAIR to West Monroe. The City Court in West Monroe is there now. Amy, his daughter, remembers going into the Fair office as a child and her grandfather giving her rolls of tickets for the rides and games.
