Family History:

Dorothy Vislosky passed away on Nov. 10, 2014 at the age of 84. She was a dynamic person with many accomplishments and many talents. She was an elected Township Supervisor, elected District Judge and an elected School Director.  She was best known for being a Community Activist.

Growing up in a large family during the Depression, Mrs. Vislosky learned the value of a dollar.  When she was first married, she studied antique glass and taught herself to recognize a valuable piece. She began to collect beautiful pieces from shops, flea markets and from friends. another completely different interest was carpentry. She taught herself to do it well and was known for her skill with power tools and a hammer.  She would wave to the neighbors who passed by in their cars as she put a new roof on her home.  She also built many wall units and storage cabinets in her house. She was still building into her 80's and has left kitchen cabinets, trim, countertops and many other building essentials.

Mrs. Vislosky became a master seamstress and could be heard at night on her Singer sewing machine making clothes for her children for school the next day. She made most of her own clothes and sewed several wedding gowns including her daughter Jan's for her wedding in 1995.

The talent she was most adept at was bargain hunting. Her abilities and her magnetic personality allowed her to find bargains and meet and befriend managers of many of the stores she frequented. She bought lots, sometimes by the skid.  That plus her many interests has accumulated a houseful of unique and varied objects that we wish to share with you. There is something for everyone. Come and see for yourself!
