Thursday on 10th Avenue Richie Household

Thursday 9am-6pm one day only Estate Sale
1927 10th Avenue Sacramento 95818
just off Land Park Drive. I love these sales so close to home!

This sale will run 9am-6pm with half price 3-5, boxlot 5-6 and free items after 6pm.

In this home we will offer clocks, antiques, artwork; some originals, lots of area rugs, furniture, tools, china, crystal, silver, watches, knives, dolls and plenty of other goodies to shop from.

10th avenue has had the parking restrictions lifted by the City for the sale but we don’t suggest you stray from parking on that street as you may acquire a parking ticket we cannot help you with. Stay on 10th Avenue and you will be fine. Be sure not to block driveways and park with care.

As per usual we will have coffee and donuts as well as our $100 raffle waiting for you early in the morning so be sure to come early to get a decent place in line so you can acquire the treasures you want in the video. I do apologize for the photos being reversed earlier in the week on the website as many of you came by our sale on 11th avenue looking to buy things from Thursday’s sale. It doesn’t happen often but when I do make photo mistakes on the site, it can affect your expectations and for that I am sorry. Thanks for understanding.

Instead of myself trying to put a face to the people from this home, or pretending I knew them at all from the little time I have spent enjoying being around their heirlooms, I felt it best to forward some words from a loving neighbor and friend we have in common, who knew them both and will miss them terribly. Although the family is no longer living in this neighborhood, that won’t stop some of the local ladies from going to visit Gaye and taking her to lunch etc. How lovely it is to be loved!

Rex and Gaye have been our neighborhood grandparents since they moved to the block about 20 years ago. Rex, Gaye and their little dog Blossom were such a part of my kids’ childhood. Every day for many years, we would meet in our front yard when Rex took Blossom on their afternoon walk, the kids would play with Blossom and Rex and I would BS.  We were so sad when Blossom died and Rex ended his walks and slowly declined with Alzheimers.  Gaye is the genteel southern lady and always had time to chat with me.  They really enjoyed our kids.

One of my favorite Rex stories:  Justin loves the water and as a toddler, he would line up plastic cups and pour water from one to the next doing “experiments.”  I told Rex Justin might be a chemist.  And Rex said, “Looks like a bartender to me!”  He was so full of humor and just such a great guy.  He always gave us ducks he had shot and cleaned.  So generous.  And Gaye is the beautiful southern lady.  She took yoga into her 90s and she bought a bright yellow VW bug just a few years ago.  So cool!!!

Did you know Rex repaired clocks?  And Gaye collected Hummels and dolls.  She was always so gracious and complimentary.  Every Christmas, the kids and I took over our holiday basket of goodies and she would treat us to cocoa.  Emma played the piano for her.  We really miss them.  My neighbor Margie Simmons (next door to Gaye) and I are planning to take Gaye to lunch soon.

Your sale will be the end of their presence in our lives.  It makes me realize how much I miss them. Thanks for doing what you do.  It’s nice to know you are taking care of this for their son.  I’ll see you there.  It will be so wonderful for Sarah to have something of theirs in her new home.

Thanks Jennie.
Julie
