HAMMOND ESTATE SALE

Please join us March 9-10 for this fantastic long-awaited estate sale in Hammond’s Historic District. John and Gloria Ross moved from New Orleans to this home in 1969 when the families steel foundry re-located to Amite, La.  They brought with them antiques and cherished family heirlooms from both John and Gloria’s family homes in Uptown New Orleans. John and Gloria were collectors on all levels, hoarding back an array of collectibles of all sorts for decades.

Gloria Ross was best known for being an artist. She received her MFA from Newcomb College in 1960 and while living in New Orleans, she won seven first place awards for her design of Mardi Gras floats. One of her paintings was chosen by the U.S. State Department for a two year tour of the Middle East and South America.

She was very active in the Hammond art community and was a long time active member and exhibitor of the Hammond Art Guild, winning numerous awards and honors over the years. She was also a member of galleries in New Orleans, Baton Rouge, Covington and McComb. Her work covered a wide scope of mediums, including watercolors, oils and acrylic. She loved making collages using “found materials” and later in life experimented using metal plates creating abstracts.

Gloria’s work is highly represented in this sale and may be found in nearly every corner of the house along with Gloria and John’s lifelong collection of antiques, art and collectibles. We are pleased to finally offer this sale and hope you will enjoy it as much as we have worked to bring it together.
