Listing Information

Starts  TODAY 10AM Thursday-preview 8AM- NO Early previews-Welcome to this onsite auction with over 100 years of things collected.

Arnie Christiansen passed away on October 4, 2018, 2 days before going to his 50th Fall Hershey Antique Car Flea Market.  He was 89 years old and collected EVERYTHING.

Arnie ran Goffstown (NH) ESSO and owned Christiansen’s SUNOCO with his wife Dot for 20 years from 1960-1979. Arnie saved collectibles from his time in the service station business and brought all of his service station tools and machines to Tamworth. And he collected even more over the years.

Dot and Arnie moved to Tamworth after acquiring the old “Nutter Garage” in 1979. They ran an antique shop and continued to collect, buy and sell automobile related items at antique car shows up and down the East Coast, up to 18 shows per year for over 30 years.

At the auction there will be tools that were used by Arnie’s grandfather, Ludwig Christiansen, who had the machine shop "L. Christiansen" on Broad Street in Lynn, MA, and made elevator safety devices – he had 5 patents.  His tools are marked with either L. Christiansen or LC. Many of these are from the late 1800’s/early 1900’s. And there is Ludwig’s personal tool boxes!

Arnie was an all-knowing car mechanic but his passion was for Franklin automobiles. When he was born in 1929, he was driven home from the hospital in the family 1923 Franklin. When his grandson, Max, was born in 2002, he, too, was driven home from the hospital in a Franklin. The first Franklin in the family was a 1904 purchased in 1905.
