Listing Information

The Hunt continues with a time capsule in historic  Ipswich! Welcome to the historic district of Ipswich, where there are more remaining first Period (1626-1725) houses (59), than anywhere else in the country.

When: Sat, 11/16, from 9 AM to 3 PM AND 11/17, from 10 AM to 2 PM

Where: 42 Labor in Vain Rd, Ipswich

This estate was the family home of an engineer, he was the Plant Engineer at The Shoe, what locals call The United Shoe Machinery Company in Beverly, MA. The factory is recognized as one of the nation's most important landmarks of industrial design.

After the plant closed relics from it's nearly 100 years of operation were retained by the engineer including the International Time Recording Co Time Clock, shoe salesman sample cases, stock certificate and ephemera featuring plant construction photographs, employee handbook and MORE.

The engineer's father was a homeopathic doctor who was renowned for treating a pope for his hiccups. His collection of apothecary medicines remain plus his period antiques featuring clocks, export porcelain and china are featured prominently within the home.

Featuring 'Ship in a Storm' by the "Father of Luminism" in America, Robert Salmon, 1775 - 1845. Salmon was born on the English coast and moved to Boston in 1829. Living in a hut, overlooking the Boston harbor, Salmon prospered as a marine painter, accepting commissions to paint ship portraits. His known production of works amounted to about 1000, we are excited to offer #37, 'Ship in a Storm'.

Additional art includes sculptures, after the antique, from the torso of Laocoon and His Sons, one of the greatest works of ancient Greek sculptures, residing at the Vatican, to a plaster cast after Guido Reni, Aurora, to the head of Alexander the Great to the bust of Nefertiti.

My favorites, being from Pennsylvania, are the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works, 'Season's Mosaics', the RARE complete set of Grand Tour intaglios in wooden boxes and the bronze museum replica of Degas, 'The Tub'.

Antiques featuring ornately carved partners desk, attributed to R.J. Horner, figural carved marble top table, and hand wrought floor standing candelabras.

A collection of clocks featuring American Rococo carved Wall clock, attributed to Geo. J Henkels, carriage clocks and ships clocks.

19th Century Blue Willow Canton Export, Minton Florentine and Wedgwood Queensware.

Sought after seating including a pair of, RARE, Don Shoemaker leather and wood 'Swing' chairs and mid century Selig armchairs.

Instruments featuring a Conn 'Chu Berry' Tenor Saxophone, and New York Otto Link Tenor Mouthpiece 4

A collection of room and area rugs featuring 19th c Caucasian and Chinese rugs plus 1930's Heriz room rug, North West Persian runner and more!

Rare and first edition books featuring Views in the East, from Captain Robert Elliot, 1883, Uncle Tom's Cabin, Two Volume Set, 1852, History of Russia, two volume set PLUS intriguing titles including African American photographer, Paul Laurence Dunbar, ABC's of Bee Culture, and delightful antique cookbooks, 'Milk Diet as a Remedy'.

Stamp collection featuring many first day issues PLUS highlights including Communist China, and Princess Diana and Queen Elizabeth as the subject.

Trains and cars! Featuring antique train lantern, antique car headlamps and a 2009 Honda Fit with LOW MILES.

Hand and power tools featuring a South Bend Precision Lathe.

Canoe, fishing gear and lures.

Vintage patio sets, Woodard, and planters and home garden accessories.

Vintage Christmas ornaments including collectible Radko, nutcrackers and more.

Additional items include men's and women's vintage clothing and sewing and knitting ephemera.

SO MUCH MORE! #happyhunting
