This collection of art works is by The St Louis Missouri celebrated regional artist Marlene DiFiori Locke.
Ms. DiFiori Locke has spent years as a professional juried artist producing art in the St. Louis area. She has decided to reduce her collection and is selling select pieces from her life’s work. Please review her resume.
The paintings include Oils, acrylics, pencil, crayon, ink and mixed media. She has explored painting styles ranging from Pointillism, monochromatic portraits after Picasso, still life’s after Cezanne, to Modern Abstract Expressionism.
Many of the canvas or linen paintings are attached to well-constructed wood stretchers, signed, dated, titled and list the media used to produce the work. There are a few unframed canvases, as well as artist’s reference models and supplies. EDUCATION: BS Fine Art and Education, Indiana University, South Bend, IN. MS Fine Art and Education Indiana University, Bloomington, IN. (60 hours in Fine Arts specializing in Painting).
Short Bio/Artist Statement Marlene DiFiori Locke, 2019 >My Art explores movement, depth and chance. Besides paintings and digital prints, I make independent acrylic "skins" with pours that are both random and controlled. I use these "skins" in my installations as well as put them into some paintings. I am also creating sculptures. >I have been in over 65 exhibits (local, regional and national). My work is included in corporate and university collections such as the 7-Up Company, RGA, Inc., and the University of Missouri-St. Louis, as well as private collections. My Art was featured on television, July 2, 2011, on Fox 2 News in the Morning. The interview, done by Anchor Andy Banker and Directed by Stephanie Knight, was titled "Marlene DiFiori Locke, Artist". >"Connected by Process" was my Installation presented at the St. Louis Artists' Guild in 2011. I also had a major exhibit at Gallery Visio in 2010 on the University of Missouri-St. Louis Campus. >Some of my honors and awards include: The already listed Fox 2 Interview; Images of my paintings published in Studio Visit, Volumes Eight and Five, 2009; Art Saint Louis Juror's Award of Excellence, 2005 (juried by Christian Rattemeyer, Critic, Curator and Gallery Director, New York, New York). As far back as 1982, I was chosen by Red Grooms (Artist); Brooke Alexander (Brooke Alexander Gallery); and Esther Sparks (Associate Curator for Prints and Drawings at the Chicago Art Institute) to be included in the traveling exhibition of prints, ST. LOUIS EDITIONS. >At Indiana University, I took over 60 hours of Fine Arts (studio and art history). I have a Master’s Degree with permanent teaching certificates issued in both Missouri and Indiana. My employment history includes teaching Art in the public schools at all levels; teaching adult classes in Painting and Drawing at the West County Family YMCA; being an Art Specialist in the Parkway Summer Program for children; teaching at Art Camps; being a Painting and Drawing Instructor for adults at the Maryland Heights Community Center; and giving private lessons in Studio Arts. >We are members of The Contemporary Art Museum, The St. Louis Art Museum, Art Saint Louis, Foundry Art Centre, St. Louis Artists' Guild, St. Louis Science Center, Missouri History Museum, Missouri Botanical Gardens, St. Louis Symphony, Humane Society of Missouri, Life Member Indiana University Alumni Association, 24 Hour Fitness, YMCA, KETC Channel 9, The Smithsonian Institution, National Space Society, The Planetary Society. |
