Listing Information

TTHIS NATIVE AMERICAN MID ATLANTIC ARTIFACT COLLECTION WILL BE SOLD AS A COLLECTION ONLY. PLEASE CALL LAURIE TO SCHEDULE A TIME TO REVIEW AND INSPECT ON SALE DAYS AND MAKE YOUR BEST OFFER/BID. STARTING PRICE IS $7,000. Does not include scrimshaw. 301-332-5585

An extensive collection of Native American arrowheads, axes, hammers, some pots. Most mid Atlantic pieces collected by our client's father throughout his long lifetime. Also Indian subject advertising pieces, miscellaneous art pieces.

(From the owner's daughter: My dad’s name is Francis Ralph Ertle; he went by Ralph.

I am quite certain the vast majority of the Indian pieces in his collection were dug up by him in the Trenton/Hamilton County, NJ area. There are probably some pieces from the Camden/South Jersey area.  A few pieces he found out west in Colorado. I doubt he purchased Indian artifacts.

He uncovered an Indian burial site in the Delaware Valley area near Trenton, which was excavated by local museum archaeologists and was on display at the Trenton Museum. I’m sure he was known in that local area but I don’t know how far afield he was known.

My dad was three days shy of 99 when he died so I doubt many of his colleagues are still alive.
