We all are learning how this will play out as we go.. A little about Hope Meadows: Hope Meadows Foundation is a non-profit organization that serves the community to provide equine therapy and advocate for those affected by mental illness. We believe in a holistic approach to treatment combining horses, life skills and the natural environment to aid in the healing process. Hope Meadows Foundation provides Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) to children, adolescents, adults, groups, and families. Each specialized treatment team is comprised of a Mental Health Specialist, Equine Specialist and one or more horses, creating a safe, healing environment for groups and individuals. Our team of Equine Specialists have experience and certifications in the EAGALA model of EAP and Natural Lifemanship model of Trauma-Informed EAP. HISTORICAL CHRONOLOGY Hope Meadows Foundations, formerly Eating Disorder Advocates of Ohio (EDAO), became a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 2009. It began with a mission to advocate for those affected by eating disorders through: • increased education and public awareness • providing help and support to those with eating disorders; families and friends with treatment options and local support, including equine assisted psychotherapy • a non-biased consortium of resources for recovery. In 2018, the original founders of EDAO along with two new members revisited the mission of the organization and realized the bigger scope of need in the community. Mental illness is on the rise despite the increase in awareness and treatment options. Research is beginning to show and specialists have witnessed first hand the effectiveness of combining equine therapy with traditional methods of treatment. Due to the experiential aspect of the process, along with the undeniable mirroring capacity of horses, the body and mind processes the experience in a way that is clear and relative to the client and therapist. Thus, EDAO was renamed Hope Meadows Foundation and expanded its scope of purpose to include ALL mental health issues, not just eating disorders. With the opportunity to operate out of indoor and outdoor private arenas, we formulated a one of a kind equine therapy program for those living with mental health disorders, trauma and addiction. Co-Founders of Hope Meadows Foundation: Tiffany Ingersoll Anne Kichurchak Michelle Togliatti Kirsten Van Nostran
