It all begins with items passed down through your family. These heirloom pieces typically hold a sentimental value that makes them priceless. However, while some may transcend the test of time as unfailing classics in your collection others may never make it out of the box. The latter is the case for The Heirloom Collection – we had the honor to unpack items that have been stored for over 40 years.

Come with us on a real life treasure hunt that features sterling pieces from England’s most celebrated silversmiths, 19th century French Catholic vestment chasubles and antique Persian rugs.

The majority of these items were sourced in France 75 years ago by a earnest collector – join us in honoring her by scattering those items she cherished. The next generation will never know you picked these items up at an estate sale!

The collection of sterling include the following standout pieces PLUS 19th century flatware and serving pieces.  

A Georgian ornate sterling entree with dragon head hand crafted by Paul Storr. Storr was England’s most celebrated silversmith during the first half of the nineteenth century and his legacy lives on today. His pieces historically and currently adorn royal palaces and the finest stately homes throughout Europe and the world.

Set of twelve solid silver butter knives displaying the Goddard family motto, “Cervue Non Servus” or “A Stag not Enslaved”. The Goddard lineage is impressive, with the first known record of their genealogical line in The Domesday Book of 1086. The Domesday Book, one of the earliest public records, is a unique survey of the value and ownership of lands and resources in late 11th century England. 

18th C ladle engraved with “Nosce Te Ipsum” and coiled snake. The Ancient Greek aphorism “Nosce Te Ipsum” or “know thyself”, used by philosophers Aeschylus, Socrates, Plato and others, is one of the Delphic maxims and was the first of three maxims inscribed in the Temple of Apollo at Delphi according to the Greek writer Pausanias. The two maxims that followed “know thyself” were “nothing to excess” and “surety brings ruin”. “Know thyself” has had a variety of meanings attributed to it in literature, and over time, as in early ancient Greek the phrase meant “know thy measure.”

Museum quality Ecclesiastical chasubles, textiles and sashes in silk and metallic brocades. These vests were used in religious ceremonies, circa 19th c. The textiles are in silk and metallic brocades and lined with burlap.

Art for your floor. Antique hand knotted and natural dye Persian rugs. The stand out here is a Shirvan area rug with Kufic Boarder. Kufic is a style of Arabic script that gained prominence early on as a preferred script for Quran transcription and architectural decoration, and it has since become a reference and an archetype for a number of other Arabic scripts.

Stained glass panel depicting “The Pieta”. The Pietà was a popular subject among northern European artists. It means Pity or Compassion, and represents Mary sorrowfully contemplating the dead body of her son, Jesus, which she holds on her lap. Mounted in wooden frame.

17th c, possibly Flemish, antique wool tapestry of a historical scene with armored knights.
