Denim & Diamonds Information:

This is our 11th year and we had big plans this year. But, like all of you, we didn’t anticipate COVID-19.

We tried as long as we could to hold out JUST in case, but the reality is very clear. The American Cancer Society is a health organization and our #1 priority is the safety of people. It is simply not safe to have 500 women in one room together. Over half of the women in the room are considered in the high-risk category. Many of them are cancer patients and we simply can not take any chances that someone could get seriously sick from COVID-19 just so we could have a fun night with our friends.

Is the event canceled? Not totally. COVID-19 has caused many events to simply cancel and we didn’t want to do that.

We still wanted to do “something” to celebrate our cancer survivors and our friends and still raise some money for the American Cancer Society.

The American Cancer Society, among other businesses and non-profits, has been drastically affected by COVID-19. We anticipate being down $200 million this year in donations. We had a massive lay-off of staff and the remaining staff has all taken pay cuts. We have made other adjustments as well. We are in the critical stage of just trying to fund cancer research we committed to and keeping the doors to our 34 Hope Lodges across the country open for cancer patients and caregivers.

You won’t be dancing and eating and shopping with your friends at the Center for Rural Development on August 13th, but we still need your help.

We appreciate all the local businesses who have donated to this online auction.

BIG thanks to Ford Brothers Inc for partnering with the American Cancer Society on this auction.  Please remember, your bids are a tax-deductible donation to the American Cancer Society.

Mark your calendars for next year’s event on August 12th, 2021, when we can all be together!
