This home was built in 1862 on land acquired from the Boston and Roxbury Mill Corporation. The Boston and Roxbury Mill Corp was formed in 1813 to build a dam across the tidal marshes of the Charles River to produce water power for mills and later filled in to create the land that became Boston's Back Bay.

Did you know that Beacon Street was known as Western Ave (and formerly Mill Dam Road) until 1868?!

This event intends to honor a piece of Boston history by transferring it to a new home.
