The owner doesn't even own a TV. Her passion is to read and cook. Her husband was attracted to Lancaster for his love of Trains. He wrote his dissertation on trains and also has collected many train books. His father was a well known Civil War Author. In addition to books you will find Historical artifacts as well as midcentury furniture. Bruce Catton was a renowned historian who authored many books- many of the Civil War, and President Grant. He was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for one of his books on the Civil War. He was also awarded this prize from the Civil War Round Table, The Nevins-Freeman award for distinguished “service “ in the American Conflict of 1861-1865. Also on sale are many of his books, one is signed, and many first edition. Civil war enthusiasts will love to find Civil War Bullets, and 2 Glass Negatives for photographs of labeled "Grant"
His son William Catton ( our client's husband) wrote his dissertation on Railways (as well as coauthoring at least one book with his father). What must have been a prized possession is from the president of B&O Railroad --what looks to be JWGarrett's authentic journal. He gathered many first edition books as well, and he loved his Tootsietoy Train Collection, railroad maps, and railroad literature. EVERYTHING MUST GO!
ALL bidders need to register on CTBids, but registration is easy. We look forward to seeing you there!
