Golden Age in Newton gives history a place of pride; heirlooms from centuries past are layered and the look is "more is more"!

Before you go scrolling take a long look at this museum quality piece, Laguna Rosa, by Guglielmo Ciardi (Italian, 1842-1917). Guglielmo Ciardi is celebrated for his marine scenes, especially for his rendering of the effects of light on water. Water is always deeper than it reflects, and I right? I'm right!

Let's start the tour of this historical home with the grand entrance hall: find a fantastic French Directoire Era hall table with gilt brass mounts, botanical prints and an antique Kirman rug.

A front to back living room where the antique Kirman rug connects pieces that span from the 18th to the 19th century.

The earliest piece is a RARE southern find, Federal Period early Huntboard, Circa 1790-1800. Probably the most iconic form of Southern furniture is the huntboard. These rarely show up north of the Mason-Dixon Line. This piece was voted by the Antique Council Nantucket Historical Council Antiques Show and is all original with the exception of the brass hardware.

Early 19th century finds include:

English Regency Tri-Partite overmantle mirror, circa 1810

Antique American Sheraton mahogany frame Sofa, circa 1810

Japanese Porcelain Satsuma Wall Hung Bowl

Two Boats in Harbor in the style of Anthony Thieme (American, 1888-1954)

An elegant dining room with a fireplace as the epicenter features a stunning fender with spinx and Neoclassical torch form andirons.

Hepplewhite Style mahogany sideboard with bell flower inlay

20th Century Beacon Hill Collection breakfront hutch

Still life by Samuel Lancaster Gerry (American, 1813-1891)

Japanese porcelain Satsuma Vase of One Thousand Faces flanked by Chinese Export porcelain vase lamps

Collections of Waterford and vases to hold cut flowers

The remaining interior and exterior are consistently authentic and beautiful! Find furniture influenced by the art and architecture of Italy and France that incorporate decorative carving, inlay, gilding and fancy brass hardware surrounded by collections of Chinese and Japanese porcelain.

Featuring Chippendale, Hepplewhite, Sheraton and George III pieces that include chairs, settees and stools in fine fabrics, chests with marble tops and decorative inlay.

Gilt bronze lamps featuring a rare floor Lamp by C.F. Caldwell, circa 1900 and an antique bouillotte lamp with both with custom made shades.

Chinese and Japanese porcelain collection featuring a Yongzheng Charger Bowl, 19th c. Japanese Meiji Period Satsuma Vase, Japanese Shigaraki Vase, Chinese Provincial Porcelain Blue and White Oil Storage Jar with Dragon

Clocks featuring 19th century French clock with Champleve Bronze, and antique boulle-style clock by Louis Pesquet, a Barnes Bartholomew & Co column wall hanging clock and a George III mahogany longcase clock from Wm Nash Bridge.

AND MORE!

This home is filled with character, elegance and a whole lot of history, welcome to The Golden Age in Newton! CLCK HERE to start shopping!
