This is a wonderful auction that includes incredible artwork created and signed by the artist Bob Straube. This auction also includes a small collection of vintage press plates used for advertising most commonly on flour sacks! Be sure to look at both pages in this auction as there are a variety of artworks on each page! About the Artist: Robert Straube (1937-2006) was an American studio and plein air painter, skilled in oils, watercolors and acrylics. He earned a degree in commercial art at Southern Illinois University in 1962 and attended classes at University of Hawaiiand Northwestern University. Bob took numerous painting workshops throughout the country with artists including Chen Yee Chee, Tom Hill, Charles Reid and Robert Bateman. Widely recognized as one of the Midwest’s most prolific painters, he produced over 5000 works of art for commercial, public and private collections across the country. Bob produced an impressive body of work in nearly every category, including aviation, still life, landscapes and seascapes. He worked for several years painting scenes for check backgrounds at Deluxe Check Printers, which saw his work widely distributed. He also served on the Air Force Art Program board and his aviation paintings hang at the Pentagon. In 1994 Bob became the grateful recipient of a heart transplant, and he continued to paint, with a very positive attitude, despite numerous physical challenges. Always working towards his next creation, he believed, “Your best painting is your next painting.” Bob also taught painting for 35 years, wrote articles for national art magazines and was regularly commissioned by Courage Center for card art. His work has been shown in galleries in the Twin Cities, Chicago and Scottsdale, and in private and corporate art collections throughout the US. Much of his work is displayed in financial institutions. “All passes. Art alone endures”
