Bidding Terms
Maintenance of Payment Information — In order to place a bid on an auction lot in CTBids.com, you must have valid payment information stored in your profile. By providing your credit/debit card information in CTBids.com to Caring Transitions, you irrevocably authorize Caring Transitions to charge your primary card on file for the total purchase amount of any winning bid plus any fees associated with the sale of the auction lot(s), including but not limited to buyers premium and taxes. You also agree and acknowledge that you will maintain valid payment information within your user profile so long as you maintain an account in CTBids.com with Caring Transitions and that you are authorized to use the designated payment method. Caring Transitions reserves the right in its sole and absolute discretion to cancel bids or suspend bidding privileges of any user not maintaining valid payment information. If your payment method fails or your account is past due, we may collect amounts owed by charging other payment methods on file with us, and/or retain collection agencies and legal counsel. In addition, you may be subject to late fees and interest at Caring Transitions discretion which will not exceed the maximum amount permitted by applicable law.
Bidding on each auction lot starts at $1.00
Placing a bid on CTBids.com is an agreement to purchase. If you are the auction lot winning bidder, you are committed to purchasing and picking up your auction lot(s) at designated pickup date/time. If you are the winning bidder of an auction lot(s) eligible for shipping and you want the auction lot(s) shipped, then you must select your desired item receipt method on the receipt upon the close of the sale. This action will communicate to Caring Transitions that you want shipping. Additionally, you must pay for the separate shipping/delivery invoice before the auction lot is shipped/delivered. Please DO NOT bid if you do not plan to purchase.
If you bid, you MUST be available or arrange for the pickup of your winning auction lot(s) on the scheduled pickup date, unless shipping/delivery arrangements were previously agreed to by Caring Transitions.
Bring necessary tools and help for picking up large auction lot(s). Loading assistance is NOT available. Some auction lot(s) may be located on a upper floors, basement or out-building.
Receipts are emailed to winning Bidders once the specific auction sale has completely closed and payment is secured. All invoices under five thousand dollars ($5,000) will be auto charged for the total amount to the primary card on file in your CTBids.com user profile. Purchases over five thousand dollars ($5,000) will require an auto charge of 10% of total amount. We will communicate with you regarding payment of the remaining amount. Total amount must be paid in full before receiving a receipt for auction lot(s) won. If you desire delivery or shipping, then you must select your desired auction lot(s) receipt “Item Receipt Method” upon the close of the sale. Instructions for selecting “Item Receipt Method” are as follows: Step 1 - Login to your CTBIDS Account; Step 2 – Select My Account: Step 3 – Select Invoices/Receipts; Step 4 – For the particular invoice select the receipt method (Pickup, Shipping or Delivery) from the drop down box.
A separate shipping, handling and materials invoice will be created and emailed to you when the auction lot(s) are ready for delivery/shipping. The shipping, handling and materials or delivery must be paid before auction lot(s) is shipped/delivered. If you do not pay the additional invoice for shipping, handling and materials, caring Transitions will consider you winning lot(s) abandoned and will dispose at their discretion and no refund for the original winning lot(s) will be provided. If you elect an auction lot receipt method and do not pick up the auction lot(s) during the scheduled pickup period outlined on the specific auction sale Terms and Conditions or Receipt, Caring Transitions reserves the right to charge your payment method on file for the greater of the total purchase price of the item plus buyers premium, taxes and any applicable handling and shipping charges or a $40.00 restocking fee. You hereby expressly grant Caring Transitions the right to hold a winning auction lot(s) until confirmation of cleared funds has been received by Caring Transitions. Winning bidders with questions on payment should reference the Knowledge Base or email Caring Transitions at RockvilleAuction@CaringTransitions.com
If total payment is not received by Caring Transitions within 16 hours of specific auction sale closing time, we reserve the right to resell your winning auction lot(s) to the next highest bidder or dispose of the winning auction lot(s) at our discretion. Additionally, we will initiate suspension of your account and bidding privileges from the CTBids.com system. Reinstatement after suspension requires payment of the total original invoice amount plus a $25 fee.
Shipping is available for SOME ITEMS (the individual auction lot(s) will be marked as shippable) at the Buyer's expense. Items that are NOT FRAGILE will be shipped via USPS or UPS. In addition to shipping carrier charges, there is a minimum handling/packaging charge of $10 per lot to cover labor and a $4 charge for materials. Auction lots requiring more than 10 minutes to package and handle will be charged at a $1 per minute basis. We automatically acquire $100 insurance or the value of the auction lot(s) whichever is highest. A separate invoice will be provided to the buyer for shipping and handling. The invoice is typically generated within 4 days after pick up date. Occasionally, depending on the size of the sale and amount of shipping, it may be several days after pickup before you receive your shipping invoice. Not all auction lot(s) can be shipped. If you require shipping on an auction lot(s) that is indicated as not shippable, please send an email before bidding to RockvilleAuction@CaringTransitions.com to inquire and discuss shipping options.
Shipping for FRAGILE LOTS will be packaged and shipped via a local UPS store. UPS charges for packaging and supplies tend to be on the more expensive side, so please plan accordingly when determining your bids. Caring Transitions will make an effort to identify this situation in the description of the individual auction lot(s).
All auction lots must be fully paid for before they are picked up or shipped. Auction lot(s) to be shipped cannot be removed from the property without payment. Therefore, if payment for the auction lot(s) is not received within 16 hours of specific auction sale closing time, the auction lot(s) will be forfeited and bidding privileges may be revoked. Additionally, if payment for the shipping and handling invoice is not received after 3 days of receiving the separate invoice, the auction lot(s) will be forfeited and bidding privileges may be revoked. Disposal of auction lot(s) is performed at the discretion of Caring Transitions and no refund will be made.
The exact address of the scheduled pickup will be on CTBids.com the invoice/receipt e-mailed after the auction closes.
Winning buyers will be provided the opportunity to schedule a specific pickup time window on the local pick-up day using SignUpGenius. All winning auction lot(s) not picked up during the scheduled pickup time will be considered abandoned and will be donated or resold. No refunds will be made. Alternate pickup days and times, if approved by Caring Transitions, can be available for a fee of $35.
A 15% Buyer's Premium will be added to the final bid amount when invoiced.
A 6% MD State Sales Tax will be added to the final bid amount when invoiced.
We have made every effort to describe auction lot(s) as accurately as possible. Expect normal signs of wear associated with antiques, vintage, and used items in the auction lot(s). We do not list every flaw. All items in auction lot(s) are sold AS IS, and WHERE IS. No refunds or returns. Caring Transitions does not guarantee the working order of any clock, watch, electronic or mechanical device. Dimensions given may be approximate. Please rely on the auction lot(s) photographs when deciding to bid.
Listings times have a soft close. Extra time may be added to ending times to allow bidders more time to win. This will give you time to receive an outbid notification and place a higher bid and mimics what happens in a live auction where the auctioneer asks for “any last bids” before making the sale.
