Tuesday September 25th from 9am-6pm
half price 3pm-5pm

Please be mindful of your parking and although we will attempt to get a variance with the city of Sacramento parking division for the day…be careful about the signs etc…

We don’t all die with crystal, silver and gold. We don’t all leave this earth with cabinets, closets and drawers filled with treasures, designer clothes, expensive gadgets, gizmos or enough art to fill a small gallery.

Many of us live meager lives and gather little upon the journey down the path of life and it’s lessons. This next couple were one of these examples.
This next sale we don’t have to show off, get rich or even make the masses come out and fight over the rarities of collectibles…rather this next house we will liquidate simply at the request of a friend who needs the place emptied in a quick second to help them close escrow so that the new owners can begin a challenging renovation to bring 50 years of sitting and decomposing to a halt and make this little home look delightful and new just like it did so long ago.
I still love the little sales and I’ll tell you why. I have no trouble imagining a little old lady sitting in this very sweet maple rocker for hundreds of hours and years on end crocheting the very doilies we will sell of every color of the rainbow, embroidering the linens we will put up for you to enjoy….painting these pictures until her eyes got tired in the poor lighting of this never brought up to date old home.

I can imagine her gardening beneath the bird bath in the tiny backyard; watching the robins bathe and sing while she watered for worms so they could feed their little babies up in her old trees planted before she was born.
The boy of the house obviously loved baseball (Sacramento Solons) pocket knives, hunting, painting, boy-scouts and boyhood treasures…his father leaned more towards old watches, Mexican Indian jewelry, clocks and cufflinks…the mom enjoyed her dishes and glassware, her pottery, ceramics and comfortable furniture.

It is second nature to imagine her feasts with friends and neighbors at her little tiny table with her ruffled carnival-won plates that she got for a dime so long ago….filling them with candies and truffles she stayed home and made herself… before she got too old to read the recipes scribbled in pencil by her own mom at the turn of the century…still visible today sitting around this old kitchen through the worn and dusty windows unwashed for many presidential campaigns.

It is quite easy to envision her son being dressed from the old kids chest while playing with his smokey bear doll, the crafts they would make around the bedroom desk together after school…while blue diamond factory down the street roasted fresh nuts for them to snack on.

It comes naturally to close your eyes and see this little family with such simply taste and need for nothing fancy, sharing Christmas over this old worn shag carpet….petting dogs and cats….burping babies and telling stories from the bible.

This is a house of love; not a fancy or updated one, not a showy or expensive one….but this is a house like the one I grew up in with all five kids screaming and running through the worn out rooms, chasing each other just for the fun of it. Because of that, it feels natural for me to believe it is exactly what it should be and nothing more or less…a families home.

We invite you with open arms to help us find homes for the little material objects they owned from the periods they lived through.

Be sure to see our photos online and take a moment if you are able to steal away from your weekend to watch the video giving you some idea of what you may find in this tiny and humble abode.

We want to thank all of you who helped us empty the Morley home for the nieces of Teo this past weekend…we are amazed at the masses who showed up for that sale and feel blessed you all took the time to come and see us.

Thanks once more for your patronage and also the read.
