[HxW] Original color with full margins. VG + condition. Lot#52: Shaker Racks - Important rare, possibly unique, pair of fine antique N.Y. Shaker drying racks, 19th century in mint condition, untouched surfaces with superb Shaker joinery from the Mount Lebanon main meeting house, the New Lebanon Bishopric at New Lebanon N.Y. We are told the racks have single high drip bars & were for making/drying candles. A good modern Shaker book goes with this lot - it shows a standard folding drying rack of which some few are well known. These have not been exposed out on the market. From the internet: Paul Herzel (1876-1956) : Paul Herzel was born in Silesia, Germany in 1876. His family immigrated to the United States when he was 7 years old, settling in the St. Louis, Missouri area. Herzell used the clay he found along the nearby Mississippi River to fashion his first sculptures. Herzel worked mostly in New York, and died there in 1956. The Pompeian Bronze Co. started out as Galvano Bronze , the first commercially produced art metal industry in the US. The name was changed to Pompeian after the founders sold their company to its employees at the turn of the century. [HxW] Original color with full margins. VG + condition. Lot#52: Shaker Racks - Important rare, possibly unique, pair of fine antique N.Y. Shaker drying racks, 19th century in mint condition, untouched surfaces with superb Shaker joinery from the Mount Lebanon main meeting house, the New Lebanon Bishopric at New Lebanon N.Y. We are told the racks have single high drip bars & were for making/drying candles. A good modern Shaker book goes with this lot - it shows a standard folding drying rack of which some few are well known. These have not been exposed out on the market. Lot#53: Furniture - a fine early 2-door cabinet and in particularly nice condition, end of 18th to early 19th Century, Chinese export piece of furniture, crafted for the Western market, based on a Chien-lung court piece, has two shades of dark lacquer ground, gilt painted, with artist finishing of various inlays of jade and other colored, carved hardstone inlays, including ivory, purchased at William Doyle's Lot#57: Painting, A quality local landscape, missing its exhibition label, signed by an artist from the Cragsmoor Art colony, a prominant student of Asher B. Durand. Lot#58: Painting by Laura Burroughs, noted U.S.Virgin Islands artist, vintage watercolor of the old Government building on Company St. in Christianstead, St. Croix, signed and dated 1961. Lot#60: Painting - Michel Loeb, French born 1931, visual artist Lot#71: Bookends, Pirate Bookends by Paul Herzel, “Pompeian Bronze”, standing pirate with sword, pistol, and dagger in original paint, good condition. From the internet: Paul Herzel (1876-1956) : Paul Herzel was born in Silesia, Germany in 1876. His family immigrated to the United States when he was 7 years old, settling in the St. Louis, Missouri area. Herzell used the clay he found along the nearby Mississippi River to fashion his first sculptures. Herzel worked mostly in New York, and died there in 1956. The Pompeian Bronze Co. started out as Galvano Bronze , the first commercially produced art metal industry in the US. The name was changed to Pompeian after the founders sold their company to its employees at the turn of the century. Johnathan Potter description> This map is decorated with the arms of the Earls and Dukes of Suffolk, and a detailed plan, with key, of Ipswich. The plan is flanked by figures of Boadicea and Pet. Cerealis her Roman victor. This finely engraved and detailed map is one of the most sought after of the county and was produced by John Speed, historian, genealogist and cartographer for publication in his "...
