UPDATE: More photos are being added daily. There is a huge variety of items in this sale, so please study the photos closely. NUMBERS: Numbers will be passed out at 7:30am Saturday morning. We are super excited to offer the estate liquidation of a multi-generational New Orleans family, who has made tremendous contributions to our community in so many ways through the decades. Our client's Canadian grandfather had a long, successful career in the Canadian government, including serving as Counsel General in New Orleans, and retired here afterward, which gave him plenty of time to devote to his other passions and interests in the arts and music. He was multi-talented and was able to play the piano, sing, and build an incredible array of arts and crafts. One of his favorite pastimes was creating very well made, realistic clay figurines, which are approximately 30 years old. Many of these figurines are included in this sale, including presidents and political figures from around the globe, and also Egyptian figures accompanied by hand-colored photographs. These are very special and one of a kind! See photos below. The two-story home is filled with antiques and vintage items from three generations of this family, including furniture, fine decorative items, some sterling silver, cut glass, lots of fine china and porcelains, costume and estate jewelry, books, rare opera ephemera, Carnival gowns, vintage and antique dolls, some artwork, needlepoint, mink furs, outdoor furniture, tools, and so much more! Check back for full details and photos as we approach the sale. Costume and estate jewelry, including some gold, lots of sterling silver, Mignon Faget, 'faux' ivory, jade, cloisonné, and many more! Linda will be on hand managing silver and jewelry all weekend. Mardi Gras pins from the following Krewe's: Rex Mystic Krewe of Comus Hermes Krewe of Proteus Osiris Prophets of Persia Athenians Arthurians Atlantans Mystery and one piece from Sunday Sinners Information about the opera and music-related material: They travelled the world and collected playbills and programs from some of the finest cultural events of the 20th century. They also collected the finest opera and classical music recordings, some quite rare that they purchased overseas. Some autographed by the artists who were friends of theirs. The records are in mint condition and sure to appeal to the ever growing numbers of vinyl collectors. This is a vinyl collection not be missed and also includes rare 78 rpms. They also collected autographed opera singer photos, and there are some rare photos for sale, that reflect their love of opera, their travels around the world, and also the history of opera in New Orleans, as many of these autographs were obtained from artists singing here. They were also friends with these singers and there are some personal letters from the artist to the family, items of great rarity. The mother was an active and beloved figure in the arts community. She was also a talented pianist and an amazing dress designer. Her exquisite taste is completely reflected in the beautiful furnishings that you will have for sale and also the beautiful collection of dresses and gowns. |
