Bid online now through Tuesday, November 25th at alderferauction.com.  This auction will begin closing at 7 PM at a rate of 5 lots per minute. Active bidding will be auto-extended 3 minutes for each lot once it begins to close.

American silver dominates with extensive representation from major makers including Gorham, Wallace, Reed & Barton, Tiffany, Towle, and International Silver. Gorham pieces span multiple patterns including "Etruscan," "Old Medici," "Puritan," and "Kensington," demonstrating the company's design range. Wallace contributes "Grande Baroque" pieces including youth and baby sets, while Tiffany offers "Paul Revere Reproduction" and "Faneuil" examples.

Regional makers add depth with pieces by Frank M. Whiting, Alvin, Durgin, Dominick & Haff, and Manchester. Specialty manufacturers including Ferdinand Fuchs and Bros., Woodside, and Graff Washbourne & Dunn represent different American production centers. Many pieces retain retailer markings from J.E. Caldwell, Bailey & Co., Spaulding & Co., and other established firms, adding provenance.

Notable highlights include a Bailey & Co. coin silver serving spoon in olive pattern with scalloped bowl from the George Sharp period, representing mid-19th century Philadelphia craftsmanship. A Frank M. Whiting bread tray with presentation date of 1900 showcases American turn-of-the-century design. Serving pieces like the "Princess Ingrid" salad servers and "Old Medici" fish set demonstrate specialized flatware forms.

Continental silver features German pieces by Ernst Gideon Bek and Storck & Sinsheimer, including an elaborate Hanau dresser box with repousse decoration depicting putti. Dutch monkey spoons showcase the distinctive regional souvenir tradition with repousse decoration and openwork figural handles. French pieces include an Ernest Eschwege purse frame with Bacchanal motifs.

British silver spans Georgian through Edwardian periods with pieces by Moses Brent, Robert Stebbings, and Wakely & Wheeler. A Georgian wine funnel by Moses Brent from 1792 represents period functionality, while a Victorian muffineer demonstrates decorative silver forms.

American coin silver provides historical interest with pieces by Joseph Lownes, James Watts, Robert and William Wilson, and other Philadelphia and regional makers. These examples represent pre-industrial American silver production from the late 18th through mid-19th centuries.

The collection encompasses flatware services, hollowware, serving pieces, and decorative objects. Picture frames by Gorham, Graff Washbourne & Dunn, and other makers appear throughout, along with vanity accessories, compotes, and specialty items.

This sale represents accessible silver from established makers suitable for collectors building or completing collections across different periods and styles.
