This auction is an online only auction. All bidding will be conducted online; merchandise pickup will take place at the Briggs Auction Showroom in Garnet Valley.
To bid in this auction, you must register on either the Bid At Briggs online bidding platform or the Live Auctioneers bidding platform directly and may not register in person. Mobile bidding is available with the Briggs Auction app. The Buyer’s Premium noted in the auction terms will be added to each successful bid. PA State Sales Tax (6%) will be applied to each sale, including the buyer’s premium, unless exempted by law. All merchandise must be paid in full within two weeks of the auction date. All items must be removed from Briggs Auction, Inc. within 45 days of the auction, after which they will be considered abandoned. All items are sold AS IS, WITHOUT GUARANTEE. Selling a remarkable single-owner, lifetime collection of 153 instruments, with a particular focus on classical acoustic guitars from the Estate of Jim Trotta. This carefully curated auction includes pieces by renowned luthiers such as Hermann Hauser III, José Ramirez, Kenneth Hill, Enrico Peretti, and many others. A passionate musician and dedicated student of Brazilian jazz, Jim Trotta devoted much of his life to the study and appreciation of the guitar. His musical journey brought him into contact with some of the most influential figures in the world of classical and jazz muisc, including Stan Getz, Andrés Segovia, and Antonio Carlos Jobim. He also enjoyed a close friendship with legendary guitarist Charlie Byrd, whose pioneering fusion of jazz and Brazilian music reflected many of Jim's own musical passions. This collection represents a lifetime of discerning acquisition, scholarship, and devotion to the art of the classical guitar, offering collectors and musicians a rare opportunity to acquire instruments of exceptional craftsmanship and musical significance. It truly is a lifetime in six strings.
