Listing Information

PROVENANCE

The Estate Sale of Peter “Q” and Jane “Q” Peter served with the US Navy during WWII and graduated from MIT with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and the Sloan School of Business. He worked in the Engineering trade and as consultant. He eventually went to work with the US State Department’s Executive Service Corps. Jane served with the US Army and eventually retired from the US Coast Guard Reserve. She completed Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Studio Arts as well as a Master Degree in Special Education. She was an artist in several mediums, designed jewelry, a Master Gardener and a member of the Low Country Community Emergency Response Team. (CERT). Jane also wrote a grant for the Sea Grant Consortium and taught students from 1st to 12th grade, ways to protect the marine environment. Jane and Peter had multiple short assignments including Bangladesh, Santo Domingo, Costa Rica, Egypt, England, France, Hong Kong Ireland, Italy, Jamaica, Singapore, Spain and Thailand. Together they also established the “Q” Family Scholarship at the College of Charleston for Math & Science students. The proceeds of their estate will be donated to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) for “need based” scholarships.
