WE COMMUNICATE BY EMAIL from Bontrager Auction and Shipping Saint. If you think you won but don�t see an email in your Inbox, check your spam or junk folder before contacting us at 585-343-4529 or bontrager@bontragerauction.com during business hours (M - F, 8 am - 4 pm).
HOW TO BID: Bid any time between start and end dates. Click the "Bid" button or plus sign (+) found next to the lot you want to bid on. A screen will pop up showing the next required increment, or you can enter your own bid.
QUANTITY: For items that show �x� and a number, your bid will be multiplied by that quantity. Most lots will be a quantity of 1, but some lots, such as flooring, lumber, or multiples of anything alike, will have a higher quantity.
HOW WE MEASURE: Unless otherwise noted in the item description, we will be measuring length x width x height (see photo).
MAX BID: The system will bid for you up to the maximum amount you entered. You could win the item for less if other bidders stop bidding at an amount less than your maximum. If 2 bidders leave the same �max bid�, the one who entered first wins.
SOFT CLOSE: Lots close slowly, usually at a rate of 3 to 6 per minute, starting at the published closing time. Bidding within the last minute of a lot will increase the bid time for that lot by 2 more minutes. It will not affect the bid time for other lots.
OUTBID EVERY TIME YOU PLACE A BID? Most of the time this is because someone else has left a max bid on the lot you are bidding on that is higher than your bids.
BID TIES: The person who placed the bid first will win the bid.
HOW WILL YOU KNOW IF YOU WON? After all lots in the auction are closed, you will receive an email from Bontrager Auction with your receipt attached.
PAYMENT: The card on file in your bidding account when you registered for the auction will automatically be charged. We accept credit and debit cards: Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover. If your payment does not go through, we will email you a secure payment link from Global Pay. We do not accept payment at the auction pick-up. We do not accept personal checks. Make sure card info is up to date BEFORE you start bidding. You must complete payment before you can schedule your pickup. We are unable to take payment info over the phone.
CHARGES: Sales tax and a 15% buyer�s premium are added to your total. Any sales tax-exempt paperwork must be complete, correct, and submitted at least one hour before the auction starts closing.
SCHEDULE PICK-UP TIME OR SHIPPING: After the auction closes and receipts are emailed, you'll get a follow-up message from Shipping Saint to schedule a pick-up or shipping.
PICK UP: Select a time, click submit, and take note of the confirmation screen with the details. Note that different auctions have different pick-up locations.
SHIPPING: Click �Ship�. Typically, items are shipped after the local pickup occurs. We only ship lots that were marked �Shipping Available�. (See more on shipping below.)
If the address in your bidding account is out of state, or more than 3 hours from Batavia, NY, please notify us if you are planning to pick up in person.
CAN�T MAKE THE PICK UP: Alternative pickups are subject to auctioneer approval before the auction ends and the following fees:
TRANSPORTATION: Minimum $20 charge ($40 per hour) regardless of the size of the item,
STORAGE of $10 for the first 5 days, and $5 per lot each day thereafter, to be charged to your card on a weekly basis.
Purchases not picked up within 14 days of the original dispersal date will be disposed of without a refund.
AT THE PICK-UP LOCATION: Check your receipt at the pick-up to ensure you receive all your lots. Bring your own loading help. If you rely on our staff to load items, there is a fee of $10 per staff person. Tip them directly.
ABANDONED MERCHANDISE: If you decide to abandon a purchase for any reason, there will be an automatic charge of $20 to cover our labor. Bid only on items you are willing to pick up even if you don�t win other bids.
SHIPPING:
Buyer pays for packing time and materials, shipping, insurance, and signature confirmation.
We ship only to the US and Canada.
Most packing takes place in-house, but items described as �no shipping available� may be taken to UPS for professional packaging and shipping at buyer�s expense. In the event that we agree to ship an item that was described as "no shipping", Bontrager Auction Service will not be responsible for any packing or shipping damage and will not file an insurance claim or refund on behalf of the customer. If we agree to take lots to UPS for professional packaging, there is a $20 charge for transporting to the professional packager. We charge $50 to retrieve lots from UPS if the buyer decides the shipping cost is too high.
We ship ammunition, black powder firearms, and firearms only to a Federal Firearms Licensee.
We do not ship coins, jewelry, or precious metals to PO Boxes.
We do not overnight express packages.
Shipping estimates are not provided before the auction closes.
Buyers who want partial lots shipped will pay a $10 fee for disposal of the unwanted elements of the lot.
Failure to pay for shipping (abandonment) is subject to a minimum charge of $20.
For any auction that does not take place at Bontrager�s Auction Center, 8975 Wortendyke Road, Batavia, NY, there is a transportation fee of $40 per staff hour (prorated according to time/volume with a $5 minimum) to move items from the auction site to our auction house for shipping.
POLICY FOR TAX EXEMPT BUYERS:
It is the buyer�s responsibility to ensure the required sales tax exemption paperwork is complete, correct, and on file with the auction company one hour before the auction starts closing. We do not honor out-of-date, incomplete, or incorrect sales tax exemption forms.
Bontrager Auction does not provide sales tax refunds for paperwork that is submitted after the auction closes;
At a minimum, forms must be updated annually.
Forms can be scanned to sandra@bontragerauction.com up to one hour BEFORE the auction closes. Unclear pictures of forms will not be accepted.

NY ST 119.1 Tax Exempt Organizations Certificate: We require a copy of the ST 119.1 and a letter from the tax-exempt organization stating that the purchaser is a recognized purchaser for the organization.
BONTRAGER BOX RETURN We are happy to take back any cardboard flats you acquire when picking up from our auctions! We will take them back when you are picking up more auction winnings, or if you need to drop them off after hours, you can use the main entrance at 8975 Wortendyke Rd., Batavia, NY 14020.
