This is the estate sale of Mildred and Lee Vanderpool. Mr. Vanderpool was the President of Ouachita National Bank and a founding member of Bayou DeSiard Country Club. They both were very involved in the community and belonged to numerous civic and charitable organizations. They called their beautiful stately mansion and grounds, "home" for fifty-two years of their married life. They were constantly having functions and parties for the bank, civic organizations and sometimes just for an "occasion" which included a host of close lifelong friends. As Ferrial Willis, (long-time employee and confidant of her daughter, Janet, and Miss Mildred) said, "Back when they were entertaining, there were no caterers." The entire meal and festivities were left up to Miss Mildred and her staff to prepare. A favorite party for Miss Mildred to host was her Thursday Bridge Club. Martha Amman told us that as a child if her birthday happened to fall on Thursday, her mother Mrs. Perry, would delay her birthday party so that she would not miss her Thursday Bridge Club. One passion that Mr. and Mrs. Vanderpool both shared, was to travel the world and bring back treasures, artifacts, and historical antiques which they found along the way. There are so many unbelievable treasures in this sale that you'll need to spend a lot of time to see everything--plan on more than one visit. One visit "ainta gonna do it!"
