4-H Livestock Auction immediately following the Pork Chop BBQ @ 7:00 p.m.
The Grundy County 4-H Fair auction is the culmination of a year of hard work and dedication by these young entrepreneurs. Through these projects, 4-Hers learn numerous valuable life skills and lessons, including the value of time management skills to meet their goals; the importance of managing their own financial resources; making business decisions; proper animal care; livestock production practices; and the value of leadership, teamwork, good sportsmanship and competition.
By going to the 4-H Livestock Auction you not only support your local community but you also are investing in some of the future top professionals and leaders!
You might ask "what am I going to do with all that meat?" Our first suggestion would be to eat it! This will be some of the highest quality meat you can buy! If that is not an option for you, you may donate back by paying the difference "over market price." See examples below. Problem solved!
We promise that you will be amazed by our 4-H youth! We challenge you to get to know them, stop and chat for a while, ask them questions and we know you will see the value in this organization! Think of it as an investment in the future, with a high return!

WHAT IS AVAILABLE: Grand Champions and Reserve Champions of Beef, Hogs, Lambs, Goats, Poultry, Rabbits, Ducks and Dairy Production. There will be OVER 50 additional LOTS of 4-H Livestock sold in the Beef, Swine and Sheep categories, ½ carcasses too!
PURCHASE FOR MEAT: If you wish to buy an animal for your own use or to send to market, the 4-H Livestock Auction Committee will arrange transportation of the livestock to Chenoa Locker. If you cannot attend, but want to bid, contact the phone# at the bottom and tell them how much you want to spend in total dollars. An Auction Committee person will bid for you at the auction. Auctioneers: Dick and Erik Olson, Morris IL Example bidding on a 230 lb Hog: 1. BID FOR OWN USE: Winning Bid = $2.80/lb. Total Cost = $2.80 x 230 lbs = $644.00. 2. BID FOR DONATION: Market Price* = $2.15/lb. Winning Bid $2.80 minus Market Price $2.15 = $0.65 difference. Total Cost = $0.65 x 230 lbs = $149.50. All donations may be tax-deductible. *Market Prices will be announced on auction day.
