Richard Murdock McMillan, 93, Sacramento business leader and world traveler, passed away on April 5, 2018 in Sacramento. Born on December 8, 1924 in Spokane, Washington, son of Murdock and Dorothy McMillan, Dick attended high school in San Francisco. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during World War II, participating in the Allied invasion of Normandy. Returning to civilian life, Dick joined Trans World Airlines (TWA) in 1945 for the "golden age of flight," serving as regional manager in Portland and later in Sacramento until his retirement. Dick managed air travel for Governors Pat Brown, Ronald Reagan and Jerry Brown during his TWA tenure. Becoming a good friend of Governor Reagan, he organized air travel for Reagan and the California Republican Delegation to the 1968 Republican National Convention in Miami, Florida. Dick served as President of the Camellia Bowl Association, as Vice Chairman of the California Future Farmers of America Foundation, and as Governor Reagan's appointee to the California Advisory Council on Vocational Education. Dick also served as an elder of Faith Presbyterian Church. Dick cared for his mother Dorothy, travelled extensively around the world and had a passion for mentoring young people and promoting dialog between seniors and youth. Please join us for a house full of memories including military and TWA items to sell in one day on Saturday 9am-2pm only. Thanks for the read. Jen and crew |
