Sale proceeds to be donated. This estate is comprised of unusual collectible objects from two generations with widely varying collecting interests. The father assembled an amazing collection of books, copper, brass, porcelain (varied/including continental; willow/transfer, hand painted), crystal, sterling, large lot of samplers (10+), lighting, metal objects, wood carvings, antique furniture of all sorts, officer uniforms, helmet, daggers etc, paintings and prints, various Asian objects, and assorted unusual objects some back to the 17th, 18th and 19th century. The son focused on metal working machinery and tools as well as wood working tools some good hand working tools. Brief listing - See photo for overall: ▪ Continental Village Scene Picture Clock/19th century ▪ Portrait of a Seated Gentleman: English school, circa 1820, watercolor and gouache on paper depicting a gentleman seated at a table with paperwork ▪ Chinese Export Ovoid Porcelain Vase Ch'ien Lung (Qianlong) seal mark ▪ Inlaid Walnut Banjo Aneroid Barometer ▪ Large Oval Crystal Regulator Mantle Clock with mercury pendulum ▪ Two-Arm Student Lamps (3) ▪ Antique Rosewood Veneer Square Grand Piano $650 ▪ Wrought iron/dovetailed copper kettles, cauldrons, molds, pot/pans (dozens) ▪ Enco 5/8" Drill Press Model #125-1171, Bench mount, 1/2 HP ▪ Baldor Grinder-Buffer 5 Amp., 3600 rpm, mounted on iron base w/wheels along with a vice and another buffer/grinder - sold as unit - ▪ Themac J35 Precision Tool Post Grinder/like new/ cost new $2415. ▪ Walnut Spinning Wheels (2) ▪ 18th Century Book Form Wood Snuff Box Inlaid cover and faux binding Provenance and Background: Ehrling Richard West Estate The first generation collection was assembled by a WW2 intelligence officer that entered Norway during the liberation. After the war he was an executive at Edison; he was active in local politics and chamber of commerce. His only son retained and lived with the estate until his recent passing. The son's passion was metal work and the restoration of antique cars including an almost complete Rolls Royce Cloud and Phantom and a 1906 one cylinder Cadillac, all of which were donated. A collection of 16th/17th century rare books were donated to the Huntington Library and net sales of this estate sale will all be donated to the Children's Hospital and SPCA.
