A bit more about this man…below

During 20 years in the Air Force Tom, Jan and their 5 daughters lived in Hawaii, California, Korea, Florida, Okinawa and Sacramento. The family to this day has a love of travelling.

To support their 5 teenaged daughters after retirement, Tom and Jan became real estate investors. They managed and maintained their residential properties themselves. Dad liked being his own boss and doing things the “right” (his) way.

To keep his six women in cars, Dad developed a love of old Mustangs and for years bought, rehabbed, sold and parted out Mustangs. We never knew what car we would be driving (or its condition), but we always had a car. Their love of cars took them on several Mustangs Across America trips to celebrate the 30th and 40th anniversary of the Mustang. Dad went to Vegas to celebrate the 50th this year. They were members of the local Mustang club for many years.

In his youth Dad was a Cincinnati Reds fan and loved playing baseball. He couldn’t wait until he turned 50 in 1982 so he could join the Golden Seniors Softball Club. He played with them nearly every year since. In fact, he sprained his ankle playing just 4 days before he passed.

In 1978 they were given badges to the Sacramento Jazz Festival and never missed one after that. Their love of jazz and dancing took them on jazz weekends and cruises to hear jazz all over the world. Just a month before Jan passed from cancer 5 years ago, friends put on a private jazz show because Mom couldn’t travel to hear jazz and dance anymore. Their private event allowed them to hear jazz and dance together one last time.

Dad continued his love of dancing and jazz and passed away unexpectedly on his way to the annual Sacramento Jazz Festival on May 23rd. His zest for life, music, dancing, cars and softball was very evident to all his close friends. His generosity and lessons on living life were heart felt and insightful.

The estate sale is being held at one of their properties. The property is for sale. It is ½ acre and includes a shop (2600 sq ft) and a single family home (3bd/2ba, 1500 sq ft, 2 car detached garage). If you are interested in the buying the property, please contact Theresa at arnoldtrust523@gmail.com
