Ms. E. R. (Lucie Donalson) Riggs of Graham, Texas was a descendant of the Munnerlyn family of fame in the Bainbridge, Georgia area. The Munnerlyn plantation home, "The Refuge" was known to all in the 1800's having been established in 1837 by Charles Lewis Munnerlyn. Their family history is rich in Georgia history and in the secession from the United States and Civil War period. The plantation burned in 1883 from a fire which originated on the second level. Many items were saved from the first floor, some of which being represented in this offering of the Riggs estate. Mr. & Ms. E. R. Riggs built their home in Graham, Texas in 1936, and with few exceptions, the home d�cor, furniture and accessories have not changed to this present day. The furniture was either purchased new in 1936 for their home or was furnished with inherited, family heirloom pieces. We had the privilege of staying in this historic home and can testify that even the area rugs are original to 1936 and are in great condition, though remaining with the house. The breakfast room and formal dining room were both outfitted with electric, foot-controlled switches which alerted the kitchen staff that their services were needed. These are still operable as we stepped on them accidentally under the rugs and all smiled as the bells went off in the kitchen. The Riggs home was a veritable time capsule, and you are getting the opportunity to own these pieces which are coming to market for the first time ever! In addition to these and other estate items, you can expect gold & silver, coins, jewelry, automobiles, equipment, antiques, collectables, firearms and specialty items.
