Listing Information

We are back up north in the Northwood Addition, between Preston and Hillcrest and what a home we have! On the outside looking in, you would never imagine the beautiful treasures this home holds. It is PACKED! There is such a vast array of items, it’s going to be hard to accurately describe them. The beauty and uniqueness is something we haven’t encountered in a while. There are large quantities of nautical items, Catholic items, brass, hand carved wooden furniture, original art from Central and South America, Blue and White china and decoratives, designer clothing in larger sizes, designer shoes from sizes 7 to 11, designer handbags, drafting equipment, rattan furniture and the list goes on and on.

There are 2 sofas in the living area; one a light grey leather with a matching love seat, the other a light colored fabric. Both are places to be comfy-cozy! A burgundy fabric covered wing back chair sits in front of the bookcases. A perfect place to sit a read. The books are all over the house and, while we have had a lot of books before, the subject matter is endless. Something for every reader! You will also notice many hand carved pieces in this room, such as a beautiful armoire, side tables, benches, cabinets just to name a few! On the hearth are wooden shoes and brass shoes, imagine that! There are 3 fabulous hand carved nesting tables that, as with everything else in this home, must be seen to appreciate! There are side tables with rattan lamps and ones with pottery lamps, the coffee table has a glass top that covers the recessed hand carved design. Some of the carved pieces have taken on a rustic look, almost primitive. This only adds to the beauty of the furniture. Fur “blankets” from Alpacas and rabbits lay across the sofas and are so very inviting. There is a sofa table filled with Asian-themed items as well as the wall above having Asian-themed art. There are hand carve wooden horses, ceramic horses and pottery horses, some sitting next to a small cannon figurine. A black wrought iron coffee table with a glass top sits in front of the fabric covered sofa at the back of the room. The beauty is in its simplicity. Another beautiful “rain stick” has appeared. You might want to grab it up as it is something we could sure use about now! There is a showcase on the leather sofa holding a collection of spoons. And, yes, they are from just about everywhere! Crocheted and other decorative pillows fill the sofas.

The kitchen and dining area are filled with your not-so-usual fare as there is a great selection of copper serving and decorative pieces. A full set of cookware in the retro yellow is displayed on the stove along with other assorted cookware. In the middle of the kitchen is a white breakfast room set covered in Blue and White, crystal and glass stemware. All around the kitchen is colorful bowls, platters and serving pieces. There are many brass and copper items on the countertops. Don’t miss the two brass flamingos with animal horn bodies. Truly unique! There is a lot of shiny brass pieces you’ll want to see! In the dining area, the large square table holds a great assortment of brass items along with large chicken figurines and drinking glasses with gold trim. Remember the ones from the ‘60s?? There is also frosted blue stemware and an assortment of sliver plated serving pieces. The set of Noritake china is the “Oriental” pattern and is beautiful.

On every wall in every room is beautiful art work. Take your time to enjoy each piece as it is truly a treat for your eyes! In the hallway, mothers and their children sit and talk next to a young lady holding red flowers while walking through them. In a dressing area off the hallway, children play on a beach beneath a large yellow, happy sun. This hangs just above a number of pencil drawing of various scenes. In the holiday room, a bullfighter teases the bull with his cape while other works show boats of various types in the harbors. Another part of the hall has original paintings of veiled ladies holding candles or showing folded hands in prayer. The art is EVERYWHERE and it is BEAUTIFUL! Rattan furniture is here and there throughout the house. A great set of chairs, matching ottoman and side table can be found in the holiday room. Oh yeah, that’s where the wonderful 3-story doll house is living.

The king size bedroom suite has a headboard and footboard, a matching chest and night stands. In the corner is an antique Singer sewing machine. Wait, wait just a minute, it’s not to sew on. It has been converted to a lamp. And a great lamp it is! We told you there were unique and unusual treasures in this home! Between the bedroom door and closet is a tall, slender maple armoire that would complete any room.

In the back room is where you can find the drafting and electronic items. All sorts of each are here for you to purchase. There is also a large assortment of nautical instruments in this room. And, as with any “office” you can also find filing cabinets, typewriters, printers and keyboards just to mention a few items of the sort.

The ladies “boutique” is located off the kitchen in the “mother-in-law” wing. Not only is there beautiful clothing and such, the furniture in this room is awesome. Bold and beautiful, if I may quote a soap opera, would be a fairly accurate description. There are also scarves, dolls and decorative items from Central America here. Lots of color fills this room!

The garage holds all the things you would expect to find: tools, chemicals, wire, nuts and bolts. HOWEVER, this garage holds vast quantities of these items! Out here you can also find rollerblades, life vests and jackets and even an anchor for your boat! There is also a great assortment of yard tools for the gardener in all of us!

With a home such as this, it is almost impossible to mention everything you will find inside. Words do not accurately describe the beauty or wonder that can be seen here. I know I say it at about all our sales, but this time more than ever, you MUST see these treasures in person to truly grasp the awesomeness this house holds! It is so worth the trip out here!
