Dr. Cothran moved to Lexington in the 1970s and practiced locally as an internist and emergency room physician throughout his career. Joan Robins also came to Lexington in the 1970s, working first as a nurse in the hospital Intensive Care Unit and later as a longtime Hospice nurse. Their many years of caring for others touched families throughout Lexington, Rockbridge County, and beyond.

Their living estate offers an outstanding collection accumulated through decades of life, travel, entertaining, and residence in Virginia's Shenandoah Valley.
